WordPress Development Company in Delhi: What to Know Before Hiring

WordPress development company in Delhi

You have probably reached the point where your website works, but you do not trust it anymore. Pages are slow, the developer who built it has disappeared, WooCommerce needs fixing, or every small change costs another ₹2,000. If you are looking for a WordPress development company in Delhi, choose one that can explain what needs building, what does not, what it will cost, and what you can maintain yourself afterwards.

That last part matters more than most business owners realise.

I have been building websites since 2006 at NJ Technos. Over the years, I have personally worked on more than 500 websites, including custom WordPress themes, WooCommerce stores and bespoke plugins. I also run three D2C ecommerce brands myself.

So I have been on both sides of this decision.

I have hired developers.

I have fired developers.

And I have paid for WordPress work that should never have been commissioned in the first place.

Do you actually need a WordPress agency?

Sometimes, you don’t.

If you need a five-page company website with a contact form, WhatsApp button and basic SEO, spending ₹1.5 lakh on a custom build may be unnecessary. A competent freelancer using a good theme can probably handle it for ₹30,000 to ₹60,000.

I would rather tell you that than sell you a larger project.

An agency starts making more sense when the website has become part of your business operation.

For example, you might have:

  • WooCommerce with 100+ products
  • Razorpay or another payment gateway
  • GST-related invoicing requirements
  • CRM or lead integrations
  • custom quotation or enquiry forms
  • membership or login functionality
  • Amazon India or marketplace workflows
  • multiple product variations
  • custom shipping rules
  • third-party APIs
  • a website that needs regular development rather than occasional editing

At that point, you are not really buying a website.

You are buying development capacity.

What does WordPress development cost in Delhi?

There is no honest single price.

A basic business website may fall around ₹30,000 to ₹75,000. A more carefully designed corporate website with custom sections, SEO structure and integrations can easily reach ₹80,000 to ₹2 lakh.

WooCommerce projects are different.

A store with 50 products and standard checkout might start around ₹75,000. A serious ecommerce build with custom product logic, Razorpay, shipping integrations, GST requirements, customer accounts and bespoke functionality can move beyond ₹2 lakh.

Custom plugin development is usually quoted separately.

A small plugin might cost ₹15,000 to ₹30,000. A plugin that connects WordPress to an external API, handles complex business rules or becomes part of your daily workflow can cost considerably more.

The important question is not whether an agency charges ₹60,000 or ₹1.2 lakh.

Ask what you are getting for the difference.

A ₹40,000 website that requires ₹10,000 of fixes every month is not cheaper for long.

What should a good WordPress development company actually do?

This is where I would be careful.

A lot of agencies are very good at making screenshots look impressive. Fewer are good at making the website work properly six months later.

When evaluating a WordPress web development company in Delhi, I would look at five things.

First, ask who will actually build the website.

The person giving you the presentation may not be the developer.

Second, ask whether they write custom code when necessary.

You do not need everything custom. In fact, customising everything is often a waste of money. But a developer should know when a plugin is the wrong solution.

Third, ask how updates will be handled.

WordPress, WooCommerce, PHP and plugins change over time. A website that works today can break after an update.

Fourth, ask about ownership.

You should have access to your WordPress installation, hosting, domain, database, source code and premium licences where applicable.

Fifth, ask what happens after launch.

The launch is not the end of development.

It is usually when real users start finding the problems.

Here is what actually goes wrong with websites

A furniture client once came to us with a Shopify store doing roughly 40 orders a month and pages taking around six seconds to load.

The obvious assumption was that the website needed a redesign.

It didn’t.

The bigger problem was the product imagery. Several images were unnecessarily large, third-party scripts were loading on every page, and the tracking setup had become messy over time.

We reduced image sizes, removed scripts that were not being used, changed how some assets loaded and cleaned up the tracking setup.

The interesting part was that the client had already spent money on a redesign six months earlier.

The design wasn’t the problem.

This happens frequently.

Business owners often hire an agency because something feels wrong, but the real problem is somewhere underneath the visible website.

A good developer should investigate before proposing a rebuild.

A second example is even more common

A Delhi-based B2B company approached us after spending nearly ₹90,000 on a WordPress website.

The website looked fine.

The enquiry form didn’t reliably send emails.

The developer had connected everything through several plugins, SMTP wasn’t configured properly, and nobody knew which plugin was responsible for which function.

The company was receiving leads through WhatsApp, but website enquiries were occasionally disappearing.

We did not rebuild the website.

We fixed the email delivery system, cleaned up the form setup, removed unnecessary plugins and documented the configuration.

That was considerably cheaper than rebuilding the site.

This is one reason I would always ask an agency to audit an existing website before agreeing to a complete redevelopment.

When does custom WordPress development make sense?

Custom WordPress development is useful when your business has a requirement that standard plugins do not handle properly.

For example, suppose you sell products online and want customers to request a quotation instead of checking out normally.

There are plugins for that.

But perhaps you also need customer-specific pricing, sales-team notifications, PDF quotations and a CRM integration.

Now you may need custom development.

The same applies to WooCommerce.

A WooCommerce development company in Delhi should not automatically install a plugin for every requirement.

Every additional plugin adds another dependency.

Ten plugins are not necessarily a problem.

Forty-two plugins, several of which perform overlapping jobs, usually deserve investigation.

What about Elementor, Divi and other page builders?

I use page builders when they make business sense.

I don’t believe every WordPress website needs a completely custom front end.

Elementor can be useful because your marketing team can change sections without calling a developer every time. That has real value.

But there is a trade-off.

Highly customised Elementor websites can become difficult to maintain if developers build everything with complicated nested sections, unnecessary widgets and custom CSS scattered across the site.

The same principle applies to any platform.

Use the tool because it solves a problem, not because it is fashionable.

How long should a WordPress project take?

For a normal business website, four to eight weeks is a reasonable working range.

That assumes the client supplies content, images, branding and feedback reasonably quickly.

A WooCommerce store can take six to twelve weeks depending on integrations and custom functionality.

A complex project can take longer.

I become suspicious when someone promises a serious ecommerce website in seven days without first asking about products, payment gateways, shipping, customer accounts, tax requirements, integrations and testing.

Fast development is possible.

Skipping development work is different.

Before signing anything, ask for a simple project schedule covering design, development, content, testing and launch.

What should you ask before hiring an agency?

I would ask these questions directly.

  1. Can I see three websites you built that are still live?
  2. Who will handle development after the project starts?
  3. Will you use an existing theme, Elementor or a custom theme, and why?
  4. Which parts of the website are custom-coded?
  5. What plugins will you install?
  6. Who owns the website, hosting and source code?
  7. What is included after launch?
  8. How are backups and security handled?
  9. How will website speed be tested?
  10. What happens if a plugin update breaks something?

The answer to the fifth question can tell you quite a lot.

If an agency cannot clearly explain why it needs 25 plugins, I would pause.

Should you hire a freelancer or an agency?

It depends on the website.

For a simple brochure website, I would seriously consider a good freelancer.

You might save ₹30,000 to ₹70,000.

For a WooCommerce store that processes hundreds of orders, or a website connected to internal systems, I would look for a team.

The reason is continuity.

If one freelancer becomes unavailable, your entire website development pipeline can stop.

An agency costs more.

That is the trade-off.

You are paying for more than coding. You are paying for design, development, testing, project management and some degree of continuity.

But do not assume an agency is automatically better. Some agencies outsource almost everything.

Ask who is actually doing the work.

One thing I would not spend money on

I would not pay an agency ₹1 lakh simply to install WordPress, install Elementor, choose a template and replace the demo text.

That is not a ₹1 lakh development project.

If the website requires strategy, custom functionality, integrations, performance work, e-commerce configuration or custom design, the higher budget can make sense.

But the invoice should correspond to actual work.

This is also where agencies lose money.

At NJ Technos, we’ve had projects where we recommended fixing the existing website instead of rebuilding it. We lost the larger project, but the recommendation was right for the client.

That is part of running an agency honestly.

What should you do before contacting a WordPress company?

Write down what your website needs to do.

Not what it should look like.

What it needs to do.

For example:

“We need a WordPress website with 15 service pages, a lead form, WhatsApp integration, Razorpay payments, Google Analytics, an SEO plugin, a blog and the ability for our team to edit content.”

That is much more useful than saying:

“We need a modern website.”

If you are building an ecommerce website, also prepare your product count, payment gateway, shipping requirements, GST requirements, expected order volume and any marketplace integrations such as Amazon India.

The better your brief, the more accurately an agency can quote.

What should you actually do next?

Before contacting three agencies and asking for prices, choose one existing website that you like and write down why you like it.

Then list what your own website must do, what it must integrate with and what you already have.

Give that document to each agency.

You will learn more from the questions they ask you afterwards than from the prices they quote.

If you are considering NJ Technos, we have been building WordPress websites in Delhi since 2006, but I would suggest asking us, or any other agency, the same questions above.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does a WordPress website cost in Delhi?

A basic WordPress business website can cost roughly ₹30,000 to ₹75,000, while a professionally designed corporate site may range from ₹80,000 to ₹2 lakh or more. WooCommerce, custom plugins, API integrations, complex forms and e-commerce workflows increase the budget. Ask for a detailed scope rather than comparing only the final price.

Which is the best WordPress development company in Delhi?

There is no useful universal answer because the right agency depends on your website requirements, budget, industry and technical needs. Compare agencies based on relevant live projects, development capability, ownership terms, maintenance process, communication and the specific functionality they have built for businesses similar to yours.

How long does WordPress website development take in Delhi?

A standard business website usually takes around four to eight weeks when content and feedback are provided on time. A WooCommerce website can take six to twelve weeks, while custom integrations or complex business systems may require longer. The agency should provide milestones for design, development, testing and launch.

Should I hire a WordPress agency or freelancer?

For a simple company website, a capable freelancer can often be the more economical option. An agency becomes more useful when the project involves WooCommerce, custom plugins, API integrations, ongoing development or multiple technical responsibilities. The important distinction is not agency versus freelancer. It is whether the person or team has solved problems similar to yours.

Does a WordPress development company provide maintenance?

Some do, and some don’t, so check the contract. Maintenance can include WordPress and plugin updates, backups, security monitoring, bug fixes, performance work and small content changes. A maintenance plan may cost anywhere from a few thousand rupees per month to considerably more for an e-commerce website requiring active technical support.
